Update: elevator motor burnt out on 1/12/2020.  Motor is obsolete and a rebuilt motor could cause same smoke issue or worse as it is hoisting an old elevator where other parts are breaking and obsolete as well including the controller, relays, switches, etc. 

A new motor would require a new elevator upgrade as it would not be compatible with old elevator machine.  The timeframe for installation is about the same for rebuilt or upgrade.
